The Pizza Paradox Sci-Fi Book Club brings readers together at Bird Girl Bottle Shop every third Thursday of the month at 6pm for deep-space discussions, speculative storytelling, and cosmic camaraderie, all fueled by a good slice and a curious mind. Our September book will be Ubik by Philip K. Dick.

Published in 1969, Ubik is one of Dick's signature reality-bending novels. Psychic powers, suspended consciousness, corporate espionage, death, an d a world that seems to be slipping backward in time all collide in a story where even reality itself becomes difficult to trust.

For Pizza Paradox, Ubik gives us a chance to dig into one of science fiction's great recurring questions: how do we know what's real? It's paranoid, philosophical, funny, and deeply strange, while also representing one of the d efining voices of 20th-century American science fiction.

Members can pick up their copy of the book at Pearl Bailey Library starting August 17. Registration will also begin on August 17.
